Le Tigre coffee shop is my last stop of this brief yet lovely trip in Lyon: Lyon is such a beautiful city and on my…the food is great.

Le Tigre was founded by Andrea and Delphine one year ago: their dream was to open up a place where they could offer the best possible coffee. Today they are the only one in Lyon to offer coffee brewed by the renown Belleville brûlerie Paris, a must in town if you want to drink a great coffee. As per the food, Delphine is intolerant to gluten, so they both agreed that they were going to propose food that is gluten free and good so that everybody could enjoy it - intolerant and not. Le Tigre café est le dernier arrêt de ma petite escapade à Lyon, courte mais satisfaisante. Lyon est une ville magnifique et la nourriture vraiment bonne.

Fondé il y a un an par Andrea et Delphine, le Tigre est un joli café situé dans les pentes de la Croix Rousse dont le but principal est celui de proposer un café vraiment spécial. Andrea et Virginie sont donc montées à Paris - direction Belleville - où il y a la fameuse Belleville brûlerie Paris spécialisé dans l’art du café et hop, de retour à Lyon où aujourd’hui elles sont les seules à le proposer. Coté nourriture, Delphine est intolérante au gluten et alors elles ont décidé de proposer tout sans gluten et naturellement bon pour satisfaire les goûts, des intolérant et de ceux qui ne le sont pas. Pari réussi, moi, j’ai bien aimé!

Another good news, at the least for me, is that Andrea and Delphine bake their own gluten free bread. Everyday it is made fresh and the sandwiches they propose are among the best I have ever had. I took one with mozzarella, dried tomatoes and pesto. It was incredibly yummy… actually I am hungry right now while I am writing this post and looking… staring at my photo! It makes me want one now! Anyways… Speaking about coffee, the cappuccino was great too and the hot soup with lentils I took was perfect as it was quite freezing outside.

Une autre bonne nouvelle c’est que le pain est fait frais tous les jours! Moi, j’adore un bon pain frais et les sandwich sans gluten proposés par Andrea et Delphine sont très gourmands! J’en ai goûté un avec mozzarella, tomate séchés et pesto de basilic. J’ai faim maintenant tout en regardant ma photo!! Dommage que je ne l’ai pas ici… Bon, tout en parlant à nouveau de café, mon cappuccino était excellent et ma soupe chaude au lentils corail parfaite contre le vent glacé qui soufflait dehors.

I am a big cookie+cake lover and I just can’t resist a chocolate chip cookie when I see one! To say the honest truth, I was asking myself this question lately: is there, in the world, a cookie that is better than the chocolate chip one??!! If yes, I want to know because to me there isn’t … I just love them! I also tried the muffin with apples and cinnamon, it was a bit too hard for my taste and I think that the recipe needs improvement. Andrea told me that the pastry chef made it for the first time and I am sure that more and better will come. Next time I am back to Le Tigre, I already know that I will be saving room for … it’s that great looking lemon-glazed, poppy seeds cake! And you??

Il faut le dire haut et fort, j’adore mais vraiment j’adore les cookies aux pépites de chocolat. Quand j’en voie un, pour moi il est juste impossible de lui resister. Ceux du café Le Tigre sont vraiment bons. Mais est-ce qu’il y a au monde un cookie qui soit meilleur de celui aux pépites de chocolat??!! Cette question est dans ma tête depuis hier et la seule réponse que j’arrive à lui donner c’est…non! Le muffin pommes-cannelle par contre n’était pas aussi bon. Trop dur à mon avis. Andrea m’explique que c’est la 1e fois que le chef les a faits et je suis sur que d’autres vont venir, avec une nouvelle texture, plus moelleuse. Moi en tout cas, je sais ce que je vais prendre la prochaine fois que j’y serai: le cake citron-graines de pavot qui me regarde de loin…et pour vous, ça sera quoi??
